Tepco
says getting spent fuel rods out of the pool at Reactor 4 would take at least 4
years to finish. They say they need to
clear the pool, build a new one around the broken old one to be able to hold
new crane, and so on. They haven’t even
started any of them yet. It’s taking for
long time when there is possibility of another big earthquake could happen
soon.
Prof. Arnie Gundersen says: it’s
soluble within 3 years using dry cast storage pulled by air. He thinks the money issue gets in the way,
but also says that if the nuclear regulatory commission says “Do it.”, then it
will happen.”
Japanese
nuclear reactor specialist, assistant professor of Kyoto University research
reactor Institute, Mr. Hiroaki Koide
has been warning the danger of the reactor 4 since the disaster occurred. He commented at the NYC Press Conference May
4th 2012: The amount of Cesium137 released from Fukushima disaster
is 170 times more than Hiroshima bomb. Over
5000 times more than Hiroshima bomb in the spent fuel pool at reactor 4.
