Japanese Judge: Already signs of major health hazard in Fukushima — Kids may end up like those around Chernobyl — Urgent need for evacuation

(Transcript)

The government failed, with only a few exceptions, to distribute potassium iodine tables to children, and has even concealed the data of SPEEDI(System for Prediction of Environmental Emergency Dose Information) from the public for a long period. Also, the government says that as long as the air radiation levels do not exceed 20mSv/y, it will not attempt to evacuate every affected resident, including pregnant women and children.  Together with certain scholars, the government is even spreading a lie that there is no health risk if the radiation dosage does not exceed 100 mSv/y. While some children have been evacuated from Fukushima independently, a majority of them still remain there.  Even if the children and their parents are feeling anxious about radiation, the number of people who can evacuate independently is limited because of the parents' job situations and financial situations, etc. The children are also unwilling to leave by themselves while leaving friends behind.  As I think there is now an urgent need to evacuate the children officially from the radioactive zones, I have been active as one of the defensel layers for the fukushima Collective Evacuation Trial.
I cannot help worrying about the future of the children of Fukushima.  There have already been signs of a major health hazard. Under current situation, I think that the children of Fukushima may fall into a situation like that of the children of Ukraine and Belarus, where only 20% of children ar considered healthy: such a danger exists in Fukushima.  Please show compassion and concern for Fukushima, and please help us to save as many o the children of Fukushima as possible.  Thank you.
