Dr. Masamichi Nishio is one
of doctors who work at Fukushima Collaborative Clinic, and one of a few doctors who, soon after the
accident, was warning citizens about he dangers of ionizing radiation . He said
that it's not true to say that 100mSv/y is a safe level. There are is lots of data that proves many
people have developed illnesses related to exposure to ionizing radiation below
100mSv/y. For example, 13.3mSv/y is an exposed dose of average Japanese nuclear workers which means 4% more risk of developing cancer. The statistics for thyroid
cancer are the only part of the data that is accurate. You can see these data in REA website.
The Japanese government
should let citizens know the facts! People have been told made up stories with
manipulated scientific data as if it were real. I come to Fukushima to work,
and I see that the citizens are living as if nothing has happened. When I think
of what happened after the Chernobyl disaster, I think that the Japanese
citizens who live in the zone of more than 5mSv/y should be evacuated. Also the
citizens who live in the zone under 5mSv/y need to be respected if their wish
is to move out. I also think people who
continue to live in the zone over 10mSv/y will probably regret their decisions
to stay in later life.
