According to the independent media OurPlanet-TV, Fukushima medical university joined 1 billion yen of liability insurance in mid 2012.
As to the thyroid test, they are aware of the possible “wrong diagnosis”. In order to legally save doctors, Fukushima medical university decided to join the liability insurance.
The maximum coverage of the insurance is 1 billion yen. The insurance charge is paid from tax.
Fukushima prefectural health management department is also considering to establish the legal department as well.
Medical lawsuit lawyer, Suzuki comments they are probably preparing for the potential lawsuit about the deaths or severe aftereffect from thyroid cancer. Medical institute is not sued for usual wrong diagnosis, but particularly for severe health damage or violation of the sanctity of life such as thyroid cancer.

(Editor’s note) Dr. Akira Sugaya, Matsumoto city Mayor in Nagano prefecture, had several years of experience of working with Chernobyl children.
