Fukushima medical university held a first parent orientation meeting about the thyroid result of the children in Kooriyama-city, Fukushima prefecture due to a great demand from Fukushima parents. One of doctors in the university, Dr. Suzuki told parents that younger they are slower the speed of developing thyroid cancer. Therefore it’s ok for not having another checkup for 2 or 3 years even if they develop nodules in their thyroid unless it is smaller than 5mm long. Dr. Suzuki also commented that if by any chance they develop cancer at checkup in 2 or 3 years time, they will be treated ok.
