Women of Fukushima

A group of Fukushima women boldly protest the deafening silence of the Japanese government over the worst nuclear accident of this century. Largely ignored by their own media, these brave women brush aside their cultural shyness and share their brutally honest views on the state of the cleanup, the cover-ups, the untruths and the stagnant political climate in today’s Japan.

Some of their messages from the video:
We dug something out of the earth that we should have left sleeping.
Terrible diarrhea, skin spots, vomiting, joint pain, canker sores in my mouth.  Through April, May and June, it was a recurring cycle of sleeping and waking up.
After the earthquake, there were many people, engulfed in the tsunami, who could have been saved.  But you couldn't go near the plant.  On the 12th the first reactor exploded and the rescue crews were afraid of the radiation.  No one would go near the plant, so hundreds of people in Fukushima were left to die
The nuclear power plants were built by men.  Men who say that money is important. That's what we want to change, with our feminine style and our feminine sensibilities.  The most important things are life, health and raising healthy children.   We don't need nuclear power for this.  We are fighting to show that there are more important things than money..........
